I hope this fascinating rollercoaster we sometimes call life is treating you well. I thought I’d send another brief newsletter since last week brought another important astrological shift – Saturn moved into the sign of Scorpio and will stay there for the next two and a half years. It would be fair to say that Saturn isn’t the most fun planet around, since it represents limitation, discipline, testing and stark reality, amongst other things. But while Saturn often gets a bad rap in astrology (and please remember that I am talking about the energy within you that Saturn symbolises, not the lump of rock out in space), the truth is that it’s the challenges in life that are represented by Saturn that actually bring all the good things to us – as long as we are prepared to face them.
And this is the crux of the matter. Saturn asks us to look at what is not working in our lives. When we listen and change what needs to be changed then the result is always beneficial. It is only when we ignore issues that we know need to be faced that problems seem to arise in life. Really this is just Saturn prodding us a little more forcefully. The classic example of this that we all go though around the age of 29 is our Saturn Returns. This is when we properly grow up and become adults. If we’ve paid attention and our life is flowing smoothly then this time isn’t a big deal, if we haven’t then it can be a time of crisis – illness, the end of a relationship, disillusionment with career etc – as Saturn is now screaming at us to get our sh1t together!
I know this well from personal experience, as it was shortly after my Saturn Returns that I got really sick and spent the next 7 years (one quarter of a Saturn cycle) working almost exclusively on getting healthy. I am now so grateful for what came out of the illness as it began a process of radical transformation which eventually brought me everything I’d been looking for in life. This is the blessing of Saturn.
Now that the planet is in Scorpio, we’re likely to be dealing with hidden issues, things that may have been successfully buried in the depths of the psyche and forgotten about could well begin to resurface. If that happens, then there’s no longer any escaping them. It’s time to get serious and face them once and for all. Though it may be tough for a period it is always worthwhile. Scorpio is connected with some of the core issues of life – money, death and sex. So it’s time to pay the debts, deal with any lingering grief and maybe even examine the motives behind our games of hide the sausage.
People who have any planets in the sign of Scorpio will likely feel this more intensely than others, especially if your Sun or Moon is in there. When you will feel the full effects of this transits totally depends on where in Scorpio the planets are – those in the earlier degrees of the sign will likely already be aware of it.
Please do remember, though, that this is just one planetary placement that’s happening. So it doesn’t mean everything has to be really heavy and serious all the time. These periods may come from time to time, but there will always be space for a little lunacy. I’m a big fan of balance, so I recommend squeezing a bit of stupidity into every day. It’s the only thing that keeps me sane, quite frankly!
Shedding the Layers
Thank you to all those of you who have read my book and said such nice things about it. I am very happy to hear how much people have been enjoying it. I have been doing a few interviews recently and so hopefully word about it is beginning to spread. I will be ordering the next printing of books in the coming week or two and with Christmas looming it might make a nice present for somebody you know! Send me an email if you want to buy a copy, or order it directly from my website: http://shedding-the-layers.
