Horary is a very specific branch of the subject: Astrology as Divination. This is an ancient method of astrology that is not widely practiced today, but for me is by far the most powerful and fascinating form of astrology that exists.

Horary Astrology is the art of seeking guidance from the spirits of astrology to a very specific and practical question concerning one’s life. The answer that comes will be that which is best for us in the situation. (You could say that which is in alignment with Divine Will).

Example questions include: ‘Should I Buy This House?’; ‘Is It Safe For Me To Make This Journey?’; ‘Should X and I Stay Together?’; ‘Is This a Good Job For Me?’.

I had the good fortune to learn Horary Astrology directly from Dr Geoffrey Cornelius, the former President of the Astrology Lodge of London, and his wife Maggie Hyde, who are primarily responsible for the resurgence of this branch of astrology in modern times. For me, Geoffrey is the greatest astrologer that has lived since William Lilly in the 17th century.

While it is very powerful in itself, Horary Astrology has also been responsible for improving my natal astrology practice enormously, as well as helping me to understand and live astrology as a spiritual discipline in its own right.

Since it is a quite advanced practice, to participate in this course it is necessary to already have at least a basic understanding of the symbolism of the planets, signs, houses and aspects. You do not need any previous experience of Horary Astrology.

There is a fair amount of technical information specific to Horary that will be presented, however this will also be very much a hands-on course, in which you will learn by studying and practising on real horary charts throughout the course. I will guide you every step of the way.

By the end of the course you will be in a position to start drawing up your own horaries.


In order to ensure everyone gets the most out of the course, I am limiting it to 8 participants only.

More about Horary Astrology:
Geoffrey taught me how horary is at its most potent when used as a guidance tool for making decisions that are in our highest interest i.e. asking a question to uncover our true (soul’s) desire in a situation. The word desire comes from the Latin ‘de sidere’ which means ‘from the stars’. This is another way of saying ‘Divine Will’. Hence horary can be used to seek guidance as to how to move in a situation that is in alignment with Divine Will (which is one and the same as our true desire), and hence take action that will bring about the best possible outcome for us.

The best horary questions are those which you can do something about. When asking a question there should be an action that can be taken as a result of the guidance given by the chart. For this reason horary can be seen as a practice of ‘katarche’ (Greek for ‘initiative’), which implies the seeking of omens from which you can take action. Thus horary is about free will and choice, not a predetermined and fixed fate. ‘Destiny is negotiable’ as Geoffrey says. Through the casting of a horary chart we can gain invaluable guidance as to which action is in our highest interest in a given situation. This is a much more empowering and transformative approach to horary than simply asking ‘will X happen?’
