Venus spends about 3.5 weeks in each sign of the zodiac, except for a brief period once every 18 months when it goes retrograde. As Venus moves through the 12 signs of the zodiac it describes different themes that may be present in your relationships. On March 1st, Venus moves into Aquarius and stays there until the 26th. Below you’ll find details of what this means for everybody during this time, as well as describing what it means should you have Venus in Aquarius in your natal chart, and also briefly what this means if you are an Aquarius Sun sign.

If you do not have a copy of your birth chart, and hence aren’t sure where your Venus is natally, you can get a free copy of your chart here: https://alabe.com/freechart/default.asp

When I talk about relationships this includes, but is not limited to, romantic ones. Venus describes ways of relating to all people in our life, though it is most noticeable in more intimate relationships.

Aquarius is the sign of friendship, brotherhood/sisterhood, and is related to the collective – whether that be a particular group or organisation, or on the wider scale society or even humanity as a whole. So March is a great time to find connection with your tribe – a group of people that you are connected to through a common ideal or cause. If you feel the longing to be part of something bigger, then make this month the time where you take action to bring that into your life. And if you already have this, then you may well find a stronger connection to your tribe developing and beautiful, harmonious, bonding experiences with them.

Since Aquarius is the free spirit of the zodiac you may find at the same time in your romantic relationships a desire for more space and freedom during these weeks. Being an Air sign, Aquarius likes a degree of distance, and so it’s possible you will feel the friendship quality of your relationship more strongly than the dreamy romantic side at this time. Friendship is, of course, a key part of any relationship so make the most of this kind of connection, even if there’s a tinge of detachment between you. The deeper emotional connection should return at the end of the month when Venus moves into Pisces.

Now if you have Venus in Aquarius natally then this colours your relationships generally throughout your whole life. It describes how you relate to others, what you need for a fulfilling relationship and how you give and receive love.

So that Aquarius free spirit is likely to be a key theme in the kind of relationship that suits your nature. Even if, for example, your Sun is in dreamy, sensitive Pisces, when it comes to relationships you will need plenty of space and freedom, otherwise you may feel confined and smothered.

It’s possible that you may hold the concept of ‘relationship’ lightly and prefer not to be in the formal structure of a marriage even if you spend your whole life with your partner. Aquarius follows Capricorn, the sign of structure, tradition, formality and duty, in the zodiac. In doing so, its nature rebels somewhat against these values. You are happy to give your partner much space to do their own thing, and likewise desire that in return.

With Venus in Aquarius you may feel the need to break the rules, break the traditional way of doing relationships and so it’s likely there is something different or unconventional about your relationship. There are many possible expressions of this; a couple of examples would be that you and your partner keep your own homes rather than having one together, or that one of your works away a lot, and hence in both of these cases you’re able to have the freedom you need to do your own thing.

It’s also especially important for a Venus in Aquarius person to be in touch with your own idiosyncrasies and be willing to express your own unique self so that you can recognise this in another and find a person that you are most suited to. If a relationship limits or restricts you in some way you’ll likely either decide to leave or you’ll stay but in doing so lose touch with something of your own uniqueness.

With this placement you will likely to looking for a friend as much as a lover in relationship, and it may also be that your current partner was previously a good friend first. And being an Air sign, you require intellectual stimulation from your partner and are well suited to a person with whom you share particular ideals or values.

Finally, if your Sun is in Aquarius, then during this period that Venus is in your sign you are more likely to experience Venusian type events and interactions. So, generally speaking it is a time when you’re likely to feel more at ease with yourself, and that peaceful demeanour will reflect in your relationships, which should be more harmonious and joyful at this time.
